Massachusetts Artist Wins International Award Artist Anne Heywood was recently presented the Silver Award by the International Association of Pastel Society for the 2nd Masters Circle Exhibition at the 10th IAPS Biennial Convention in Albuquerque, NM. Heywood’s pastel, “Walk in the Woods IV”, was her winning painting, chosen from among numerous entries by other members of IAPS’s exclusive Master Circle, a distinction deferred upon only a small percentage of IAPS members worldwide. Founded in 1994, IAPS currently represents 73 pastel organizations from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
A member of the faculty and Exhibitions Committee at the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset, Heywood has lived and worked as a professional artist for over 25 years. Known for realistic and moody landscapes in addition to unique pet portraits, Heywood’s paintings show influences from her New England and Italian roots, reflecting her Newport, RI origins and the twelve years she lived in Naples, Italy. An author (2003, Pastels Made Easy, Watson-Guptill Publications, NYC) and art educator, Heywood paints at her studio in Massachusetts, and maintains Artwork by A. Heywood, her studio/gallery/school in Waldoboro, Maine. Upcoming summer events in Maine include the 10th Annual Heywood Artist Retreat Week this July and “My FAVES”, Heywood’s 2013 Annual Exhibition on August 24th and 25th.
