The Heywood Gallery, 921 Main St, Waldoboro, opens its doors to celebrate the last 2024 season Waldoboro Artwalk this Friday, October 25th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with a “Holidays in October” theme. A selection of my original paintings of snow scenes, holiday still lifes, and cards are on view along with a collection of locally-inspired works.

With “Holidays in October,” I’m thrilled to share a collection of still life paintings featuring the delightful Christmas ornaments lovingly gathered by my husband, Bob. Christmas held a special place in his heart, and over the years, he amassed a treasure trove of unique and whimsical decorations, each one brimming with its own story and cherished memories. I experience joy in arranging and painting these special items. With such a vibrant array of ornaments at my disposal, I am inspired and excited about this seemingly endless source of subjects. I invite you to reflect on your own holiday traditions and consider how art can beautifully capture those special moments, creating a shared tapestry of memories that resonates within a family and, by extension, a community.

For over 30 years, I have immersed myself in the beauty of the Waldoboro area, drawing endless artistic inspiration from its unique landscapes and vibrant community. As an American Realist artist and author of “Pastels Made Easy,” published by Watson-Guptill in 2003, my journey has been rich with experiences that have shaped my art and life philosophy. Throughout my career, I have had the honor of receiving numerous accolades, including recognition in “Who’s Who in American Women,” reflecting my commitment to the craft and the art community.

It has been exhilarating to reconnect with fellow art enthusiasts from both near and far during the 2024 Waldoboro Artwak, to showcase my work in the gallery, and to share the rich narratives that breathe life into each painting. Being part of this vibrant community-wide Artwalk group fills me with pride, as it beautifully illustrates the profound impact that art, in its many diverse forms, has on our town. This gathering not only fosters connections among artists and art lovers but also ignites a shared passion for creativity, reminding us all of the hope and inspiration that the arts bring to our lives. Together, we can look forward to a bright future filled with artistic exploration and community engagement, welcoming both seasoned art aficionados and those just beginning their creative journeys into our ever-growing artistic family.

Nestled within the historic charm of the “Governors’ Mansion” in downtown Waldoboro Village, directly across from the iconic Waldo Theatre, the Heywood Gallery invites art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in a unique cultural experience. Since my husband and I opened the gallery in 2012, it has become a haven for my landscapes, still lifes, and beloved pet portraits, each piece reflecting a passion for artistry that I am excited to share with you. As we approach the Gallery’s final official open day of 2024, the upcoming Artwalk this Friday is not just an event; it’s a celebration of creativity and community that you won’t want to miss! This is your chance to engage with my artworks firsthand and feel the magic they bring. Additionally, for those seeking thoughtful, unique gift options for fellow art lovers or aspiring artists in their lives, I offer gift certificates that can brighten anyone’s day. For a more intimate experience, I  invite you to schedule a private showing, where you can connect with my work in a personalized setting that truly celebrates the beauty of art.

Join me this Friday,
